4 BASIC TECHNIQUES
- CATHARTIC: Purging
yourself of strong emotions--put the scream in your words.
- DESCRIPTIVE: Recreates one person's view of an experience; you put
in print what you are aware of in a way that others will recognize that it is
special.
- FREE INTUITIVE: Clear your
mind by writing down whatever comes (often disjointed)
- REFLECTION: Reflect about your life, the sad and happy times, your
thoughts and memories
OTHER TECHNIQUES
- LISTS: A
series of names or other items written or printed together in a meaningful
grouping, (list your teachers, irritations, everything in your purse, what's
under your bed, fears, favorite foods, books, authors, blessings, friends, etc.)
- PORTRAITS: Sketch
in words a view of someone important in your life
- DIALOGUE: Record conversation (Between your-self and others, or a
conversation overheard)
- PICTURE JOURNAL: Draw the happenings of the day, week
- LETTERS: You've sent, received, love letters, family letters--explain what these letters mean to you; or write a letter you need to write but will never send
- ALTERED POINT OF
VIEW:
- 1st PERSON--one who is speaking (I AM)
- 2nd PERSON--spoken to (YOU
ARE)
- 3rd PERSON--spoken about (IT IS)
